Default Remote Control Moron (Almost on topic)

http://talk.workunlimited.co.uk/usel...323334,00.html

A rather unbiased look at the RF reciever that fed Bush the lines in
the first debate.

so what was the earpice? Is there a regular in ear monitor, or how
was all the prompting done.

I guess this method didn't work so well for them, or they found a
better one to use in the 2nd debate.

The excessive size of the reciver must be due to some ammount of
scramblling going on.

Is anyone with a Scanner going to be in Tempe Arizona this week?

Sounds to me like standard IFB. This is a standard sort of thing for
a lot of functions, if only so that the talent can be made aware of
last minute changes, scheduling cues, etc. Vega and Lectrosonics both
make some nice IFB packs that are very common for TV news reporters, etc.

There are various in-ear gadgets that are fairly hard to see, especially
with longer hair. Watch the announcers on TV news.

Strictly speaking, if they used something like this, they should have
cleared with the event frequency coordinator....

There's a denial on CNN: "Bush aides deny Internet rumors he was

Scott mentioned earlier this year that Bush wore a (apparently
not-quite-stealthy-enough) earpiece in a news conference, so this is
not the first time this has come up.

The excessive size of the reciver must be due to some ammount of
scramblling going on.

Why would they put it in his back? It seems too risky that it would
be visible. Why not sew it into the inside vest of the coat? It would
not be tight against his chest like it was against his back.

Don Lancaster, maybe?

With all the buzz on it now, I (semi-jokingly) bet they switch to
the VLF band in an attempt to avoid detection, and it causes all the
"atomic clocks" [with WWVB receivers] in the area to lose reception
and drift.

Well, of course. The outline is obviously his Hello Kitty backpack.

=A0=A0A rather unbiased look at the RF reciever that fed Bush the lines

I wouldn't be surprised if the flat bulge was a Kevlar bullet proof
vest.

The excessive size of the receiver must be due to some ammount of
scramblling going on.

Excessive size not required. With the new all digital encrypted wireless
units from Zaxcom the receiver is easily hidden at the small of the
back.

OTOH the bulge could have been an animatronic radio controlled servo
pack.

And his prompters will have to talk REAL slow. Watch for George to
have lots of pauses in his reponses.

But seriously, maybe the bulge was from a bullet-proof vest?

I heard Neal Boortz talk about this today (or was it yesterday?),
he said a photographic expert examined the picture, and determine the
object protruding from Bush's back to be a spine. Careful examination
of similar pictures of Kerry showed that no such object exists in
Kerry's back.

Given the obviously rectilinear nature of the object's outline I say
it's cranial remnants.

NFL quarterbacks have some sort of scrambeled in helmet recievers,
they must be rather small, but easy to conceal things in when you
have a helmet on.

You mean like the episode called "Spock's Brain" where they steal
Spock's Brain, and they out that remote control thing on him?

If true, he has some *serious* back problems.
