Default Boston 8" Pro subs in trunk?

I had Audio King Car installation center make custom sub boxes for 2 8"
ProSeries Subs and he suggested mounting them in the trunk on each side of
the spare tire in my 70 Dodge Challenger RT muscle car. I dont know yet if I
am happy with the sound but doesnt this just add more boominess to the
sound. I already have Boston Ralley series 6x9's mounted in the rear package
tray, so they are using the trunk as a bass box, and with the Boston subs
using there own inclosure shouldnt they be mounted more in a forward area?
Is seems to me they really dont need another bass enclosure like the trunk.
What I was looking for was just more low end definition. The deck is a
Alpine 7892 and the amps are a 4-channel Alpine MRV-340 and a 2-channel
MRV-320 for the subs. The fronts are just small 4 inchers in the kick
panels. I mean, the 6x9's need the trunk space for bass but the subs already
have there own enclosure and having them in the trunk seems to defeat the
purpose of the sub boxes. Or is this the proper way to mount them?
