"It was kinda like lying around and seeing the dark side of the moon from a
different perspective," says Seaman over the phone from New York. He adds th
at, although many students were wary of his presence at first, eventually th
ey warmed up to him because he "wasn't sitting there wagging [his] finger at
them, or looking shocked and appalled."
"I never use the word 'shocked' in the book because I really wasn't," says S
eaman. "But I was surprised at the intensity with which students drank. I dr
ank in college and I still drink, but in the four years I was at Hamilton [C
ollege in Clinton, New York], there was only one instance where someone had
to go to the hospital and that was a big deal.
