A mouse and an editor that can do cuts and crossfades. It will take a beginner a long time and you have to learn where to cut. However, with most modern music that repeats a lot (I see you're already dealing with loops via Acid, so there's tons of repetition there already), you could probably do what you want in an afternoon, or maybe an hour or two if you have reasonably raw sources that can be cut easily (and not premade loops that can't be edited). Most time compression and expansion algorithms sound really pretty bad IMHO. They're usually worse in stereo too. They also ends up stretching out some inappropriate parts of the notes, like the attacks, which never need to be altered. Do it by hand and you'll be better off. Regards, Monte McGuire |

Monte, ever use Celemony's "Melodyne" program? I was looking at their demo movie ay celemony.com. It looks like a quite natural to use interface for pitch correction/harmonizing/tempo and pitch change/timestretching, and I have heard a few guys swearing by the sound quality of the program. I've heard of it, but never tried it yet. One more darn thing to do!!! Thanks, Monte McGuire |
