Default Digital Input is off tempo Help!

I've created a drum track with Fruity Loops 3 and want to send it to
my Fostex FD-8 multitrack via an optical link. I get it over there
and the transfer is perfect except for one big problem - the tempo is
slower than the original (on the computer). The Fostex requires a
44.1kHz input. I checked - that's what the .wav file I'm sending is
in. While sending it, the 44.1 icon constantly flashes on the screen
of the Fostex. I couldn't find anything in the manual about this. To
record, I simply start recording to a track on the Fostex, then begin
playing through my default .wav player on my computer. Is something
wrong there? Another thing...I'm using about as crappy of a cable
that money can buy, however, since there are no audio distortions
added, whatsoever, I can't see this being the problem. Hope someone
can help.

Thanks,
