From: "langvid" I cannot say the same for the mass production labels such as DG. (So far, I have not been impressed with the few DG SACDs that I have listened to). I don't buy DG unless it's something I really, really, really want to hear. I've felt this way since the LP era. There are a few exceptions, but DG sound is usually shrill-sounding to moi. Which would tend to be due to their recording/miking methods, rather than PCM vs DSD. IIRC, DGM chose PCM over SACD as an archiving method after some consideration of the technical and audible merits of each. -- -S. "They've got God on their side. DGM chose PCM over SACD as an archiving method after some consideration of the technical and audible merits of each. Given their reputation for having a "tin ear" when it comes to the sound of their recordings, I'm not sure that is much of an endorsement.. ;-) |
