Default FAQ Recommendations

I've had my DAW set up for some years now, and I have the basic
technical aspects down pretty well (functions on the board, setting
levels, etc).

That being said, I'm looking for a good FAQ that is a step up from
"this is how you record music". I'm looking for tips on mic
placement, compression, and technique. I don't need step-by-step
instructions on how to hook up my system, but that is primarily what
I'm finding. Any ideas on where to look? I know you guys have some
better suggestions than Google does.

Thanks!

Thanks a ton. The FAQ is GREAT. I'm sorry that I didn't know about
it before posting. Forgive me!

Take a look at Paul White's Creative Recording series of books - he's very
good at explaining stuff like this in easy to understand language.

Cheers

James.
