Default any hacks for a Nakamichi CDPlayer4?

I'm in no position to invest in a new cd player these days, but my
trusty Nak is becoming a bit harsh to listen to. I'd almost rather
listen to music on my PC these days. I haven't found anything by
searching google or yahoo, except the possibility that this player
utilizes some Burr Brown components (which I do not know for sure),
which suggests that might be a possible and inexpensive upgrade
(assuming power and pinouts haven't changed or i can find an op-amp to
match...).

but i'm at a loss. can anyone recommend a site? or if you know of a
hack or two, please share it with me. Thanks!!

You could try cleaning the laser head, as the harshness could be caused by
data bit dropout.
Clean the interconnects it could be a jitter problem. / oxidized
connections.
else it could a electronic component failing due to age, a cap is the most
likely.
I hope this helps in some small way.

Try contacting these guys http://www.premieraudio.ca/?area=company they were
a huge Nakamichi dealer when Nak was alive and well.
Even if you don't live in the frozen north, they might have some handy
advice.
