Default What would you choose?

I realize many of you would not choose either, but hypothetically if had to
purchase one of the following what would it be:

1) A circa 1999 McIntosh MVP831 CD/DVD player for $800 (no remote).

or

2) A one year old Marantz PMD340 for $400

Depends on whether video or pitch control are most important.

I'd take the newer model.

I don't care about the video. Sound quality is most important. Features not
that important.
