Is there such a thing as a plugin that will "round out" the frequencies of a
track in real time? Something that will do to the EQ display what a compressor does to the volume output? Say you've spent hours trying to make a brittle track a little rounder and all you've managed to do is make it worse, because the 5k boost and sharp 7k cut you added help certain parts of the track, but makes others sound even more brittle... since an acoustic guitar track (for instance) is very organic, something that can come in in real time and eliminate only the spikes and bring up some of those valleys would be useful. Or am I dreaming in color? |

A de-esser will push down when a set frequency (generally high but often can be slid down fairly low) exceeds a threshold. It can push down the whole track or just the set frequency. It's usually used to control sibilence but you can also set it to keep a sound from popping out without dulling it when not at the threshold. |
