Poopie brays in self-satisfied stupidity.

You also missed your arse even when you had all four paws deployed in
trying to find it. You're a sad little bear, Poopie.

David's been doing it by himself for over a year now. Asked for volunteers
to apply, but no takers.

IMO, David has a thankless job which he does about as well as is humanly
possible. And despite the fact that we don't agree on many issues, I've
always found him pretty fair. So even if I get mad, I simply remember what
a difficult job it is and let it go. Wish others could have done the
same....we'd have a more active group. But those who must *always* be right
can't apparently abide ever having a post rejected.

Harry, I sincerely respect YOUR fairness to Mr. Bath but not Mr.
Bath's to others whose views he disapproves of..
To be concrete.. Two years ago or thereabouts he announced a ban on
discussion about DBT/ABX. Following that rule he continued and
continues passing disputatious messages with thinly disguised synonyms
like:"But you did not use "nonbiased blind testing", or "bias-
controlled testing" etc. Disguises that wouldn't fool anyone past the
kindergarten. But he censored-rejected 9 messages of mine in a row.that
disputed that practice. Not for flames or vulgarity. (After 2 years in
the Army as a potato- peeling, sentry duty GI ifelt I heard enough
about ****ing and body parts to last me till the end of my life) I quit
RAHE for the second time, finally, and without regrets

Bath used to pass flames and name-calling directed at me by
individuals I prefer to forget but whose names and quotes I'll give on
request. But if I answered, woe to me, the censor's scissors would get
into action. 3 years ago after one violent flame that I was told I'll
be never allowed to answer adequately I quit RAHE for the first time.

Things were different before the other moderator Paul Raynaud from
Berkeley Univ. resigned.. If he felt that my answer was too much, like
the attacks on me, he'd contact me and ask me to revise. When I quit
RAHE the first time he told me he regretted that I felt I had to quit
and he welcomed me when I returned. The minute he left Bath got to
work to force me out.

I know that you do survive his anti-subjectivist censorship because in
your general niceness you find it easier to be not aggressively
controversial. I hope you continue. RAHE needs you. It is about to die
on the vine of attrition.
Best wishes Ludovic Mirabel

All the good moderators probably have moved to web-based forums now.
The moderating process there is so much simpler and easier, since one
moderates after the posts are made.
This gives opportunities to e.g. moderating messages partly, or to
have a discussion without interruption in a timeframe of minutes,
sometimes hours, instead of days.

Usenet is dying.

Having said that: being a moderator myself, it's a timeconsuming,
sometimes difficult job.You can never do well.
Some people always feel neglected, insulted or misunderstood.

On the other hand, there are occassions where it can be a very
satisfying job, such as when newbies begin to see the light about a
given subject and start posting new views or ideas.

I wouldn't miss it for the world :-)

Ludovic -

I suspect your analysis is correct. It is a shame you and David apparently
got so sideways, because individually I find you both reasonable people.
There certainly was an attempt to "clean up" recrimination and
"promotionalism" on RAHE, and I too noted that some subtle (especially by
Pinkerton) flaunting of the spirit of the rules continued to get through.
But that was at a time when David was handling 40-50 posts a day in only one
short evening "sitting" and I believe him when he said he missed some of
them in the sheer process of reading and dealing with that many posts along
with his work and family duties. And as with any *law*, there are people
who push to the edge of the technical "letter" while violating the "spirit"
in a pretty cavalier fashion. Unfortunately, the courts usually enforce
only the "letter", since enforcing the "spirit" can lead to charges of
subjectivism and "activism".

Been there, done that probably long before you did, Sander. Unlike you, I

Yes, like why needing 1200 watts.ch. in a home audio system, versus a
nicely built 100 watts amp that is enough for 99.9 % of all speakers.
Certain Infinity speakers are excluded, just ask Trevor.

RAO dominated by me? Hardly. I rarely post here anymore, and most
posts are crossposted from RATubes.
My "ilk"? You mean people like Graham or Peter Wieck, who are
gainfully employed or self-employed in the field of audio, a field you

time to post to Usenet?

I simply don't have the time (or rather: don't want to make time) for

occasional snot post by "you and your ilk"about tube and vinyl bigots,
thank you very much.

Congratulations, Jenn. You've been promoted to the first rank of Most
Feared Normals, and you've been posting to RAO for less than a year. You
know you're scaring the krap out of Krooger when he bitches about you
every day even without posting to the thread. Most of us need at least
three years to attain that level.

A little fairy whispered it in my ear.

What indicates that to you?

That you still didn't define "people of my ilk", and didn't deny that
"my ilk" consists of people like Graham or Peter Wieck, who are
gainfully employed or self-employed in the field of audio.
A field, you so desperately want to belong to that you devote large

I'm sure I will stay up late all night, worrying about what you think

Did your father hit you over the head with an output transformer once,
Arny? Is that where your hatred of tubes comes from?

You can tell me, it will make me understand why you are doing the
things you're doing, and it will lighten your burden.

No, but RAO is pretty dead as audio groups go.

I know you're still hoping to be notived by the "real audio guys" by
working fiercely on your "usenet career", but if you'd care to look
outside your little scope of vision, you'd notice that web-based
forums are far more active places.

Maybe so but I find them very tedious to use and they don't handle proper
threaded discussions very well as a rule either.

They suck.

Is there an error here, George? Shouldn't it be "even without you
posting to the thread"?

Yes, my mistake. I do make one every now and then. G

Can this post be archived in a prominent place? I want everyone to see

Depends on the group, I think.

I visit mainly Dutch DIY groups, and I must say, things
are going excellent there.

Good info, much humor, helpful folk.

If Sander likes it, then its probably like the blind leading the blind.

At least I'm "leading", Arny, which is still more valuable than
getting beaten up time after time in newsgroups by people you
obviously seem to hate.

BTW when are you going to start working on *your* humor skills?

Sander, I think you ought to try to talk youself and your friends out of
that senseless self-abusive habit.

When there is an audience that is worth the trouble.

Admit it Sander, you're losing interest in RAO. Time to go away, completely.

You're right, Arny, I'm losing interest in RAO as it is now.

However, I reserve the right to post to audio threads as I see fit, if
that is OK with you.

Been there, done that long ago.

Oh come on Sander.

While you and your buds in the Middius posse have been trying to run off
everybody that you disagree with with anguished cries of "Borg", I've long
been in favor of freedom of speech and expression.

Of course, with the right to expression comes the right to say something
stupid, and with the right to say something stupid comes the exposure to
being corrected.

It is the correction part that you and the rest of the Middius posse find so
disagreeable.

criticism of me it's unfair by definition, and I think I'll pity

Be "reasonable", paul -- if Arnii doesn't get any pity from himself, he'll
go completely without.
