After mumbling and stumbling per usual for a minute, Dubya came up with this pearl: "I'm open to suggestions." A great leader. No doubt about it. **George, Do you have a cite for this speech online? Actually, it wasn't a speech, it was in W's meet-the-press on Tuesday, April 13. My favorite little Bush-ism from that meet and greet was his comment about reporters putting him "under the spot". |

My favorite little Bush-ism from that meet and greet was his comment about reporters putting him "under the spot". Did anyone ever notice that Dubya never gave a direct answer to any question? Notice how he rambled around in circles like Omarosa Rice after each question (eating up each reporter's time with his answer, thus cutting down the number of questions). You'd think that with the ability to cherry-pick a handful of reporters for questions, and with a week to prepare his responses, he could have at least answered *one* question. Instead, all he did was regurgitate segments of his lengthy opening speech over and over again in response to the few questions he got. He really had my jaw dropping when he answered a question about how he never seems to want to admit to ever making a mistake by rambling on about visiting the families of wounded soldiers, then moved on to several other utterly irrelevant topics, spewing the same propaganda and homilies he used in his opening speech. It went on so long I was beginning to think he was going to continue on into "star wars" and "colonizing Mars". He didn't. What a disappointment. :-) |

What a disappointment. :-) It isn't like he doesn't know what the questions will be. The truth is he thinks we are too stupid to need an answer. And that Rumsfeld guy... he comes to a news conference where he gets accused of permitting and ordering prison abuses. He says he hasn't had time to read the accusations and was only breifed on the pictures, never actually looked at them. And the reporters let him get away with that response. I would have liked to ask why the breifing didn't include a few examples - I mean there was 2000 of em.. certainly a frame or two were keepers no? Carl |
