I have the following question about properly setting up my mixer. I
have a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro and a Delta 44 sound card. So here is my very twisted setup: - I have the bass guitar going into the Mackie channel 2. - I have connected a compressor using a Y cable to the same channel. - I have the Left main out going into the first of the 4 ins of my delta 44. - I am using the first and second outs of my delta 44 coming back into track 5-6. - I have the third and fourth outs of delta 44 connected to a set of headphones. - The ALT3/4 outs are connected to my two power monitors (Behringer Truth). - I press the mute ALT 3/4 button of channel 5-6 to listen to what is coming out of my sound card i.e. stuff I have already recorded. - If I want to listen to any other instrument out of the monitors during playback, I press the mute ALT 3/4 button of that channel as well. - When I want to record, I unmute ALT3/4 the channel, and it goes to main, which is connected to the in of my delta 44. I select the appropriate incoming channel in cakewalk, and I can record. Obviously the problem is that when I unmute the track, I can't listen to it. I can't think of a way to keep the playback track from bleeding into what I am playing. Otherwise, I can't listen to what I am playing. Now I am sure there is a better way of making the connections and doing this. Could you please suggest how I can get the correct setup. Thanks a bunch. Asad |
