Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced build issues with Event Tuned Reference 6 monitors. My story: Once upon a time in a land far far away, I bought a pair of TR-6's off the floor from Guitar Center; got them home and discovered first, that the amplifier section of one of them decided not to power up; I returned it for a new in-the-box one, then... I started critically listening to the second one and discovered that it was "farting" - not a blown driver, but a cabinet that seemed to be vibrating itself to death somehow. So I returned it for a new in-the-box one. I'm now 2 for 2 problem speakers, but things are looking up. Skip to... Four months later, after working happily with my two (now replacement) monitors, I fire up the studio one day and discover that -both- monitors have distortion apparently from the woofer. I assume I'm somehow about to blow both woofers, so I call Event and have a pair of replacement drivers sent to me. I should've removed the woofers from the cabinets, because after the replacements arrive I discover the new woofers are doing the same thing: the woofer isn't distorted, the cabinet is - they too are now doing the same vibrating-itself-to-death farting routine that one of the original floor model units was doing. So, I just wanted to see, for curiosity's sake, if anybody else in the world had experienced this. I'm now 3 for 4 Event TR6's having exhibited a similar problem, which somehow doesn't seem right since folks have generally good things to say about these monitors. Yes, I'm calling Event again tomorrow. thanks y'all, Eric |
