As the subject suggested this is a stupid question from a newbie. I
wonder what is the sticky glue-like stuff in dark color that is near the counterweight whole where the armtube goes through. |

Without being able to look at it, I can only guess, but I think it's
probably some grease or other lubricant that's seeped out and begun to harden. How old is the tonearm? I would suggest removing the counterweight and cleaning off both the armtube and counterweight hole. Then re-lube with some light grease. Scott Gardner On 28 Nov 2003 13:47:39 -0800, (S. There are certain tonearms like the Mayware Formula 5 that have bearings that have to be lubricated periodically and can show lubrication migration. That's probably what's going on here. It's not a common thing, but, there ya go. |
