Hi,

I can't find where in China NAD is manufacturing their CD players.

** Bound to be more than one place - since NAD use subcontractors.

NAD do not have to tell exactly you who they have contracts with.

** I guess this is for proof of Chinese origin so it escapes import duty.

I will appreciate any kind of info/help...

** Pay up - it must only be a few bucks.

Believe me, I would pay to avoid all those problems but the US customs NEED
a special form to be fill out for the FDA and laser regulation. I know it
doesn't make sense but they need it, without the manufacturing site address,
they are not going to let the unit enter the US. On the unit it's written
"Made in China"... that's all.

This is causing me nightmare!!!!!!!!

particular unit came from there??

The ONLY folk who know for sure are the technical and admin staff of
NAD.

Just write any address from Shenzhen. Customs won't check it. Why should
they? If there's a problem, then tell them this is the address you were
given, and leave it at that. So go online, search "electronic manufacturer
+shenzhen+china" . Here's one:

Shenzhen Malintech Industrial Co., Ltd.
Contact Person: Ethan Wang
Address: Unit C, 12/F, Ruida Bldg, Jingtian (South) Road, Futian
District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. China
Zip: 518034
Telephone: 0086-755-82900118
Fax: 0086-755-82900119

Hi Pete,

Did you try asking NAD support?
http://www.nadelectronics.com/help/

** Pretty good thinking - even for a drummer.

Figure out who ought to know - then go ask 'em.

Doesn't always mean you will get the answer you need but.

I have been there a while ago with a CD duplicator that I shipped from
Canada to the USA,I feel your pain. The machine was built in the USA.I was
treated like I built the damn thing and you needed to be a lawyer to fill
out the paper work they give you.

My solution after many weeks or fighting with the shipper was to tell them
to ship it back to me and I shipped it through FedEx with no problems.

I think US customs are worried you are going to take the laser out and use
it for evil perpouses.Thank god for the FDA !!!!!!!

Such BULL****!!!!!

Good Luck

Bad idea.....they do check. This is why they want you to do all the leg
work and fill out the papers so they can check.

Instead of looking here where nobody really cares where anything is
built, why not call a NAD dealer, ask him for the name and phone
number of the NAD distributor in the US, and ask him for an address in
China. You don't think the US Customs Service is actually going to
chek on it, do you? They just want an addreess. I'm sure you can get
the address of the company headquarters from the US distributor.

Why not just say "the same factory all the zillion of other bits of NAD
stuff for sale in the USA was mafe in " ?

1. Don't ever ship UPS internationally.

2. Mark anything like this "AMERICAN PRODUCT RETURNED TO COUNTRY OF ORIGIN"
on the box and on the green form with the contents, in large and prominent
letters.

My solution after many weeks or fighting with the shipper was to tell them
to ship it back to me and I shipped it through FedEx with no problems.

FedEx is fine over the border. Canada Post/USPS is usually cheaper for
lighter packages although they are more expensive for heavier ones, and
they never tack on any customs fees of any sort. Things seem to go
through customs a little more easily than with FedEx.

Don't even mention that it has a laser in it. The laser form, if you read
it carefully, does not apply to class 2 laser products.

You'll note that it contains lead solder too, but you don't need to fill out
the ORM-D paperwork.

Unless you are shipping it to California of course. ;-)
