Default Poor AM reception due to After Market Changer

All,

Your help would be greatly appreciated. I recently purchased a used car that
has an after market 6 cd changer added on. I realized shortly after buying
the car that the AM signal was horrible. A car stereo dealer told me that
this was due to the FM modulator for the Disc changer. The CD changer is a
sony. My question is if i purchased a Sony deck with cd changer controls
would it eliminate the need for the FM modulator and therefore restore my
AM?

Thanks

Chris

You'll have to check part numbers for compatibility. Personally, I'd
dump the whole setup and install a head unit with a built-in CD player
and AUX-in jacks for an iPod. I think it would be simpler and cheaper
than fixing what you have.
