__My Experience__
I just installed a pair of Pyle 6x9" model PLG693 triaxials in the backshelf of my 03 Impala, and to be quite honest, I noticed absolutely NO difference better or worse. I only paid $56 incl. shipping for them, so I consider it no big loss. The original GM 6x9s were cardboard with foam surround and a "whizzer" cone in the middle of the woofer - cheesy! But when I did a backseat comparison - Pyle on only one side and GM on the other with my eyes closed there was no difference. The pyle side was neither louder nor more treble, nor deeper bottom, but most importantly no muddier than it's GM neighbor. BTW the GM became muddy only if I turned up the bass and cranked Eiffel 65 through it. As far as I'm concerned, the scrawny 20AWG GM speaker wire combined what with my spade crimp-ons doesn't deliver nearly enough signal to really show an apparent difference between the two. At least I got the polarity right. And at least *these* Pyles use current materials - poly-cone with rubber surround, aluminum? mid & tweeter, and huge magnets weigh as much as the Impala! ![]() -ChrisCoaster |
