The MFA Magus is an all-time classic preamp. MFA, Bruce Moore and Scott
Frankland, produced the legendary LUMINESCENCE. The smaller Magus is one of
the best preamplifiers ever made for the money. I had all new caps,
resisters, RCA's put in by Scott Franklind himself. $600 worth in October
2002. He also hot-rodded the phono section. It is costing me a whole lot
more to move up to the next level. This can even be used as a separate phono
stage (use the tape loop and it only goes through the phono section by
passing the line stage).

This is a great choice for someone who wants to get the advantages of vinyl
without committing a fortune or not have an exit plan. If you get hooked on
vinyl it gets who lot more expensive, very fast after this level. See my
