Was able to play around with a Lexicon Omega for about a week and was
very impressed -I was suprised, but understand, to see on some rec.pro.audio threads people being weary of the new unit cuz of the old Core System. I can't speak for the PC side -but on my Mac all I had to do was connect the cable and there was the Omega in my Core Audio options- no driver needed. The other thing that really impressed me was that I was able to go down to 128 samples latency and track my live guitar (thru an Adrenalinn) thru plug-ins for the guitar in Logicm, as well as a stereo drum track without a problem or any noticable latency with my live playing. Just thought I would mention my experiences because for the money I don't think there is a better USB interface out there and I hope the Core System past doesn't make people automatically assume that the Omega will suck before trying it out. Originally I was looking into an 8 channel Firewire interface -but since setting up my patchbay I've decided to go with the Omega and spend the extra dough on some outboard (SPL Transient Designer). Would be interested in anyone's comments on the Omega's performance in Windows land. -DEdge |
