I Would like to ask for help from anyone who has used a "MARIAN
MARC" series sound card. The problem I'm having is with 88.2K and 96K sample rates only, not 44.1K. I am getting some wrong sample values in recording or playback of wav files, this causes a crackling sound, e.g. like a badly scratched vinyl record. This has only happened since changing over to my current PC, which is based on a P4 2.8GHz + ASUS P4P800 m/board + Win98se.(I realise that Windows XP may be more suitable for this m/board) I didn't have this problem on my previous pc which is an AMD 1GHZ + Gygabyte m/board, a far less powerful machine. I have swapped the sound card between the two machines to verify this. I have tried all the usual tweaks, I've stripped down the PC to the bare minimum - no other PCI cards installed, I've got everything possible on the m/board disabled in the BIOS, tried lots of various settings like PCI latency, etc. The problem is still there. It's not the audio software - I mainly use Samplitude Pro.v7.2 but the problem is identical with other software I've tried. I would like to hear from anyone who has used a MARIAN MARC series card, (especially with ASUS P4 board and WIN98se). I realise that this sound card is probably not used by a great number of people, but I would appreciate any input on this. Regards, Terry. I'm using a P4 2.8GHZ (fsb800), ASUS P4P800 m/board, 1GB ddram (dual channelpc3500) 2x 120GB Seagate S-ATA drives, Plextor Premium cd, ATI Radeon video card, MARIAN MARC4m sound card. |
