Default Online music distributors?

I'll looking for a site or sites that host independent artists and
collect fees for downloads.

Now I'm not talking mp3.com where they charge you to make money for
them as if you should be working for the commission not that you will
ever see a dime. What I'm looking for is a site that goes above cd
quality(atleast to 96kz 24 bit). The site should share with you $$$
collected on a timely basis(per month). I suppose there are other
things I might want like no censorship but you get the general idea.

Are there any good sites like that out there? I'm not looking for a
promotional site. To tell you the truth the reason I'm asking is to
see if someone can surprise me! lol Do I really need to start my own
site with a secure server etc? I guess what worries me about that is
bandwidth. I just think if you're gonna charge someone for a dl they
better get the quality they want. Why rip them off like the RIAA? Who
would gladly release mp3 cds if they thought it would save them money.

Are these sites hard to secure? (assuming there are no artist friendly
hosts)Have some of the software companies addressed this growing need?

Thanks
William
