Default Hooking up Home Stereo in Studio

I always reference on this home stereo of mine, its a denon. I always hear
some good stuff to fix and when it finally sounds good through it, it almost
always translates well everywhere. So I want to hook up the speakers and amp
in my studio. So should I make some cables coming out of my patch bay that
terminate in RCA and hook it into the CD jacks? Does it matter what input I
use on the Denon? Thanks
Frank
