The GOP’s dilemma
The birthers hold no sway over the vast majority of Americans; their arguments resonate only with a small segment of conservative Republicans. That group may be as little as one-third of the overall Republican electorate. The problem facing the Grand Old Party (GOP) is that irrational arguments have a tendency to alienate the other two- thirds of Republicans who may find such discourse absurd. But some Republican politicians, nevertheless, have felt the need to pander to the radical right-wing of the party to maintain their constituencies. Professor Franklin says these politicians must pull off a delicate balancing act: “The trouble for Republican leaders is how to regain their image as a responsible, sensible party in the face of factions which paint it in such a bad light, but are, in fact, not representative of the broad sweep of the party.” The birther movement is unlikely to convince many that President Obama is not a US citizen, but that does not mean the attacks have no effect. Their arguments reaffirm the irrational negative beliefs held by certain individuals who oppose every aspect of the Obama administration. But even worse is the effect on American servicemen, some of whom have already questioned the authority of the very top of their chain of command: the President of the United States, Barack Obama. http://www.rnw.nl/nl/node/14990 Of course 2pid will argue that the Dems control the Netherlands. LoL. |

I actually don't. That person needs to leave the military, pronto, especially if in a leadership position. They are not fit to serve. I know of quite a few, you among them, who questioned Bush's authority. As Commander in Chief? Um, no, 2pid. I never once questioned his authority. I can differentiate between "not agreeing with decisions" and "not legally able to make them". Can you? Once again you make a claim that I already know you won't back up, so why do you bother to make them in the first place? LoL. I did question the Constitutionality of some of his decisions though, like wiretapping and torture. LoL. You are wrong again, imbecile. LoL. So as I see it your post really only has two issues worth addressing. You see it quite stupidly (as usual). 1) Your obvious hypocrisy. My 'hypocrisy' was that I "RIPed" in part because I did not like how bushie was using the military. Remember, 2pid? You gave me endless grief about that. (That most people would call that "integrity" is a separate issue, but we all know your issues with that word too.) LoL. 2) The stupidity you attribute to the American servicemen. As a US serviceman yourself (supposedly), you have to be the stupidest. Um, 2pid? You'll note that I quoted what a European source said. I "attributed" nothing to anybody. LoL. As a human being, you have to be the stupidest. LoL. |

I actually don't. *This is the problem with engaging you. No, 2pid. I'm just surprised that there is a soldier who doesn't believe the President has CinC authority and that they would say it out loud. I guess you hang out with really stupid people. That actually is quite believable. LoL. The simplest of sentences, like "I know of one", utterly befuddles you. Um, ok, 2pid. What an imbecile. My other point was that I know many, many times the amount of soldiers that you do and I don't know of any who feel that way. Which leads me to conclude that you hang out with some pretty stupid people. LoL. That person needs to leave the military, pronto, especially if in a leadership position. They are not fit to serve. Chirp chirp. I'm glad we agree. I know of quite a few, you among them, who questioned Bush's authority. As Commander in Chief? Um, no, 2pid. I never once questioned his authority. I can differentiate between "not agreeing with decisions" and "not legally able to make them". Can you? *You've never claimed Bush made a decision that was illegal? I claimed that torture was illegal. If you'll note most senior military personnel agreed. I think the wiretapping thing was unconstututional. Um, 2pid? You're not going down the "everything a President does is done as Commander-in-Chief" road, are you? If so, you'd be wrong. BTW, if you ever figure out how Google broke their advanced group search function, let me know. IOW, "I will blame Google for not being able to back up my incorrect claims". How GOIA-like of you. Google is lying to you? LoL. Once again you make a claim that I already know you won't back up, so why do you bother to make them in the first place? LoL. I did question the Constitutionality of some of his decisions though, like wiretapping and torture. Your poor tortured mind. *He is legally authorized to make unconstitutional decisions. LoL. Tell that to Nixon. He apparently ordered the Watergate break-in as CinC. What part did the military play? LoL. Oh, and "Duh". Guh duh, 2pid? Ikkle dumpty bra? LoL. You are wrong again, imbecile. LoL. So as I see it your post really only has two issues worth addressing. You see it quite stupidly (as usual). Another tacit agreement. LoL. 1) Your obvious hypocrisy. My 'hypocrisy' was that I "RIPed" in part because I did not like how bushie was using the military. Remember, 2pid? You gave me endless grief about that. *Now you get to go to Afghanistan and be a policeman. *How do you like that? Afghanistan is where we should have concentrated from day one. Iraq was a distraction. Duh. BTW, don't point your gun at anyone while you're there. So you agree that you gave me **** for having integrity. How honest of you. LoL. Did you mean my sidearm or my rifle, 2pid? I don't have a "gun". Duh. *You would quote something you don't agree with? *Why? Do you mean you actually agree with the crap you post? I thought you were kidding. LoL. I can see a link that might have some other content you don't agree with, but you quoted it. *That's another matter. The 'discussion' was about republicans feeding the "Obama is not a citizen" fire. The article I posted was pertinent, relevent and on- target. Do try to focus. And I do agree with that article as far as that goes. I hadn't heard the part of the 'conspiracy' undermining discipline in the Armed Forces. You, OTOH, just admitted that you *did* know that. You seem to have no problem with that. What a traitor. LoL. You am a imbecile. LoL. I "attributed" nothing to anybody. LoL. *That would be you. *Your posts are nothing to anybody. No, 2pid. If you had a brain (and not a 'brain') you'd see the one doing the attributing here is you. LMAO! |

I'm just surprised that there is a soldier who doesn't believe the President has CinC authority and that they would say it out loud. *Here's the morpher in action. It start with his quote post/quote the effect on "servicemen". I know "of" one based on reports. He morphs to you "know" one. Now he is surprise that "a" soldier raised the issue. He knows many soliders and knows none that fell that way. So much for the "effect" on servicemen (plural). All I can get from his circular meandering is that apparently servicemen are effected more than servicewomen in shhtard's tightly twisted view. *So the effect on "servicemen" as you claimed was BS. *Thanks for the admission but I already knew you were full of BS. But it isn't BS, 2pid. You admitted that yourself. You claim to know a soldier who feels that way. Why do you always contradict yourself? LoL. |

Goody. Constrast that with your "effect on servicemen" claim while you admit to knowing none effected. I made no claim, 2pid. I quoted a news article. The BS from you never stops. What BS is that, 2pid? That the GOP is still waffling on the birther thing, or that there was a news article stating there has been an effect on the military? Stupidity just comes naturally for you, doesn't it. LoL. |
