Jane Addmas was labeled a threat, a radical and the most dangerous
woman in the US. Manufacturers hated her because she advocated laws limiting abuse of child labor in sweat shops. She also advocated women's suffrage. "The harsh criticism received by Addams, both for her outspoken pacifism during World War I and her defense of immigrants' civil rights during a period when anarchism and socialism were greatly feared in the United States, never stopped her from putting forth a great amount of effort and energy into Hull House." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Addams It was, no doubt, people exactly like 2pid giving Addams the "harsh criticism". Dull, unintelligent people who had no sense of history and no ability to consider issues from more than one angle. People who feared the dreaded socialism. And, like 2pid, they were no doubt programmed by others like the puppets they are. It would be interesting to see who the Michelle Malkins of the day were. 2pid, here's a clue: Addams founded Hull House in 1889. The unions were formed and women's suffrage was granted after that. Child labor laws were amended (the manufacturers cried that reducing their ability to have 10-year-olds working 16-hour days put them at a "competitive disadvantage".) World War One was ended via armistice, not conquest, just as Addams had advocated. And the world as we knew it did not end. LoL. |
