The KSM105 is one of those mikes that works on some people and not on
others. Some voices just become very strained-sounding with the things.
And it makes tonsil noise worse. But when it works, it sounds great.

You're right there and it is true that no mic will work perfectly for
_every_ voice. The KSM105 won't work for really loud singers as well.

Yes, but because of the tipped-up high end on the KMS105, it works for a
narrower range of people than most, which is a problem in a festival
situation.

You know what _really_ works on a huge array of people? The old EV 664.
It's got that SM-57 presence peak, but it doesn't sound like an SM-57
at all. The pattern is pretty wide and sloppy, more or less like an
SM-57, but it's really a surprisingly fine-sounding mike. The look is
very offputting, though, except for Japanese rock groups who seem to go
berserk when I bring them out.
