Quote Arnold B. Krueger "As I've explained before, these files were
downloaded from a web site belonging to a prestigious university that is
well known for its involvement
with audio sound quality evaluations. The names of the files came from the
source."

Did you have permission of the copyright holder to use these files and where
is the acknowledgement or credits of the source?

They may or may not be copyrighted. They likely are not. There are
various samples of acoustic instruments floating around. A very famous
set came out of the University of Iowa in the late 90s, IIRC, and they
gave permission to use them at will. These samples might well be from
them. If this is the case, it would have been the polite and
professional thing to do to give credit, but it is not required. The
bottom line is that the files are not recordings of a trumpet section or
a horn section actually playing the music. They are (probably) sampled
sounds, played on a keyboard or entered manually in a software program
such as Cakewalk. No one with experience with hearing players actually
playing these instruments in any room, including an anechoic chamber,
would be fooled into thinking that these are actually trumpet/horn
players playing their instruments. The difference is night and day.
The reasons why this is true should be obvious to anyone with the least
bit of experience with playing the instruments, live sound, or recording.

When we first discussed this sometime in 2006 as I recall, Arny couldn't
remember the source of the files.
