Default Would Battery (drum sampler) play AKAI brass samples very well?

I have Battery, which is great with drum samples. It can import
Akai format. Before I buy another software sampler, can anyone tell me if
Battery would work very well playing, say, brass samples? I want to buy the
Phantom Horns sample CD.
Thanks for any help on this subject!

As long as the samples are horn lines and not single notes (patches) it will
work just fine. I use Battery and sometimes use it for single line
(non-looping) samples such as this.

Could you shed a little light on this, as single note melodies
are what I'm looking to sequence?

Yeah, if you're looking to use Battery to trigger a pre-recorded horn line,
it will work. But, if you're looking to use Battery to use horn samples in
a sound module setting (playing horn parts from your keyboard)...it's not
gonna do the job for you. In that case, you should use a more traditional
sampler...and there's a few to choose from. I use Halion for this kind of
stuff, as well as the samplers that come with Reason. I hope this helps...

Check Native Instruments web site. They mention using battery as a sampler of
other sounds.

Yeah, like I said...you can trigger all kinds of other sounds. But, you're
wanting to trigger them in a way that you're wanting more synth sounds (horn
sounds included) it's not thing to use. It's great for sounds that already
have their melody etc...
