Default Sudden Track Volume Increase in Logic 7

Hi.

I'm running Logic 7 with a Lynx L-22 card. I've been using this set
up for 2 years. About 6 months ago, I started having various strange
things happen with output levels - some seemed to have to do with the
card, and some with Logic. I have re-installed and updated driver
for my soundcard, and that has taken care of some of the issues. But
in Logic, I will sometimes have a sudden increase in volume on an
individual track on playback and sometimes even on recording. (A
fader will be set to -1 - midi or audio - and then it will out of
nowhere it will spike up to 5.5 or 6. I'll move it back down, then it
will spike up again like it has a mind of it's own. There is NO
AUTOMATION set for these tracks. Sometimes it will spike up, then
come back down on it's own. This has happened in Garage Band as
well, but it hasn't happened in GB since i reinstalled my sound card
driver.

??

Thanks!

David
