Default handheld recorders - longterm recording

Gareth Magennis wrote:

However, Audition will not generate a single mp3 from these stitched
together WAVs, it has some kind of max size allowed that it doesn't
tell you about. Audacity, however, will! If you trim the Audition
WAVs first, you can roughly drag and drop them into Audacity, where
they are automatically butted together perfectly, and from there you
can export to whatever format you want as a single file.

With Sound Forge you can record as big as you disc is, then choose to save
to WAV or MP3 ( or whatever) within the constraints of those file formats.
There is even a setting to allow saving 'illegal' WAVs up to 4GB.
