I have a Behringer SL2442FX pro mixer desk.
There is no output on the left channel. Is this a common fault and more important does anyone know how to repair? Any help will be gratefully accepted Many thanks Nev |

I just replaced it (in my workplace - we had the money for an upgrade). |

Any help will be gratefully accepted Is there output on the inserts? Insert connectors going bad is a very common phenomenon. Otherwise you need to pull the case, run signal into a channel strip and go through the master section with a scope or a signal tracer looking to see where the signal is and where it stops. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. Any help will be gratefully accepted Many thanks Nev -- boso IME, if there is no left output at all, 70% chance it is the left fader, 20% chance a dirty left main Insert socket. 10% chance something else. If the output is intermittent, 70% chance a dirty left main Insert socket, 20% chance left fader, 10% chance something else. Probably the only thing you can do is clean the Insert sockets. Changing (and obtaining) a fader will be a nightmare. Incidentally, on more than one occasion I have repaired a Behringer with this exact same symptom, and it turned out that one of the main bus tracks runs right at the far right edge of the PCB from fader to output jack socket section. When the PCB was installed into the chassis, something sharp caught on the PCB and partially cut through the track, which eventually failed some time later. Within that 10% chance of something else is maybe a 10% chance of a damaged track on the edge of the PCB. If you take the bottom cover off you may just spot it. Good luck! Gareth. |

If you inadvertently get one that has output on the left channel, return it to your dealer for a replacement. OK, I was just kidding, but I hate when someone asks "is the common?" or "is this normal?" when it obviously is no. First, make sure that it's really your mixer that's at fault and that you don't have a bad cable, you haven't pushed the right buttons or turned the right knobs. If you're sure it's the mixer at fault, it's broken. It's really not user serviceable. If it's under warranty, it will be replaced. |

In the UK (specifically Scotland) that's known as "Numpty Error". i.e. some "Numpty" has grossly misdiagnosed the fault. (Not that I'm accusing the OP of being clueless, who has given no indication of his technical abilities whatsoever). Numptys often bring me radio mics that they say cut in and out. The simple question "have you tried it in a different channel on your mixer" usually brings on a puzzled look. They also bring me perfectly good Speakers saying they are broken, because at the last gig nothing came out of it. Never underestimate the distorted reasoning power of a Numpty. Gareth. |

Behringer provide no technical assistance. If it's out of warranty, you're screwed or have to pay an authorised Behringer repair agent unless you have a techy friend who'll look at it for you. You get what you pay for. Graham |
