Can I legally use a sampler to sample another sampler and sell that as my
own collection of samples?

I ask because I'm building a simple sampler into my home made recording
software and I recorded drum sounds off of my Alesis SR-16. The thing is,
it works great. I could conceivably sell my software as including the SR-16
for free... but this seems like it must break the law somehow.

On the other hand, I purchases this drum machine, and the sounds on are mine
to use as I please right?
