KEF has made some pretty good speakers in the past, so I was interested
in this product. It purports to provide a surround-sound environment using what appear to be direct radiators for the front and panel speakers for the rear all contained in a unit that sits in front, with the panel speakers "bouncing" off the walls to provide the rear sound. There is also a sub-woofer for the bass, and a CD/DVD player to provide signal. This would be a pretty neat trick if it works, but they don't even provide any specs on the frequency response of the speakers (or cost!). I currently have panel speakers for my audio system, so I know they can provide the illusion of a huge sound-stage when set up properly, but I am wondering about this system. It would be for a small summer condo, so while I would like good sound, it wouldn't have to be the best sound. The compactness of the system would be a definite plus. Has anybody heard these and what was your reaction? Also, does anybody know what the system costs? |
