not sure what to title this thought.. but...
if I was standing in a room with a live band, I'd hear one thing. run that same band through a few devices and it changes everything. while I enjoy all the fun things one can do with sound... isn't it still an art to capture and deliver the real sounds? I think this would give any artist or band an edge. We take these wonderful recordings and apply Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni's method of stretching tendons and ligaments till our figures become gods! Till there is nothing left to overstate. yes! the average dope smoking teen is going to love the SHOT GUN TOMS AND SNARE The CANON BASS but that's not what you'd hear in person. I encourage folk to preserve what is real. The 80's did this to us, well.. it could be the multitude of sorceries (drugs) that have done this.. but.. I always appreciate a live band that has their stuff together. We've done it so much I can't distinguish between some of these alt rock bands yes, some styles lend themselves to pure true sounds, and some do not! exceptions to this could be.. The Kinks, The Who, Cream (got that little list from wickipedia) I can't actually name any songs those 3 groups play, I just know they are distinguished. The further we go the less distinguished mixes are becoming. I say put up the real sounds... then a project is watermarked by the artists or talent involved. |
