Agreed. I'm coming to Oz soon to seed some of your wenches. At $1,000

This newsgroup has toilet-bowled into a political ****-fest, and it is
going to stop. NOW.

Neither are the e-mails you've been sending to everyone.

They don't have to be. Your email doesn't have a puiblic listing of
marc.phillips.personal.email.for.audio.chat, nor does anyone elses.
Annoyed by being called out for the errors you have made in a public fora?
Stop making them.

As for the folks that have "threatened" to contact my ISP if I mail them
again (s888wheel and vinylanach)- KNOCK YOURSELVES OUT. They have less
tolerance of mis-use of public fora than I do. Continue posting off topic
political garbage, and not only will I continue to send mails to you
demanding your improper use of the newsgroup cease, but I will also
forward emails to your ISP administration as well as senior execs at the
company. Results will happen and this newsgroup will contain the traffic
it was intended for.

If you want to talk about audio equipment, go ahead.

I would, however the s/n ratio in this newsgroup isn't high enough to make
any threads worthwhile at this point. That will change, and in short
order. Do your part and take your political garbage to alt.politics. Most
folks come to this newsgroup to get *away* from that kinda garbage. Why
bring that nonsense here, where it is completely off topic and where
people don't want to read it?

This is an audio related newsgroup. Post audio here. Political discussion
does not belong here. Do not post it. Failure to use this group for its
intended purpose and continued abuse of it WILL result in
retro-moderation, cancellation messages, emails to offenders ISP's and
senior execs of those ISP's, and blanket additions of offending domains
into the Real Time Internet Black Hole List. This isn't the first
newsgroup that has required some major cleanup that I have undertaken -
and it will not be the last. Anyone want to dance? Take a number.

Post audio.

Everything else to alt.politics or /dev/null

Big test coming up or something? Or are you frustrated that you can't
get an answer to your Abercrombie and Fitch audio question?

There, I made it audio-related.

BTW, do you even *know* what the "intended purpose" is?

I love you blustery sophmores. Come blundering into a room like a mad
elephant.

BTW, what in the heck is "retro-moderation"?

Your trolling is just as welcome as the political stuff, you know.

Knock yourself out.

If you really understand the history of this group, you will find that it
became the wasteland it is because certain people tried to control its
contents, within the context of audio.

I can point to at least 4 other audio groups within Usenet that don't really
have enough traffic to be really worthwhile, either.

I doubt if France has suffered any serious tourism drop because

why Hong Kong?

Because I enjoyed it immensely the 2 times I was there before.

One of the most alive cities you can imagine, great bargains on

many
items,

Beautiful geography. Great entertainment. Great food.
What's not to like?

The smell of sewege for starters.

Just like Paris?

Funny. I didn't really notice it in Paris. There were areas in Hong

Kong
where
the stentch was so bad that I had to walk around it for fear of

throwing
up.
They have a serious sewege problem there.

You need a better tour guide.

I was pretty happy with the one I had. Not his fault about the plumbing.

I like the skyline but I didn't find the
landscape to be particularly interesting at all. I was not crazy

about
the
food
one bit.

Palette of the beholder Iguess.

I wonder if by alive you mean over-populated?

I mean it seemed like there was vitality.

It is the most densely
populated piece of real estate on earth.

Kinda like New Jersey.

You can live in a house in New Jersey yes? Those sixty story highrise
apartment
buildings in Hong Kong were just plain creepy to me. The population
density
there is just ridiculous.

People tend to flock where there's economic freedom I guess.
It never bothered me, the driving on the wrong side of the road did

though.
:-0

Maybe we drive on the wrong side of the road. Left side did come first all

be
it on horse back.

The only bargains I found were on high
end film camaras and silk products.

Used to be great values on home electronics and many products from
Europe.

Used to be.

I did find a lot of scam operations though.

Like New York City.

I haven't done much shopping in NYC

Now if I were asked to go back there again for work I would, but I
would
not
consider a trip there on my own dime. I will say this for Hong Kong
though, it
was the only place I could make listening comparisons between a
Rockport
Sirius
III, a Clear Audio Master Reference and a Forsell Air Reference all
with
the
same cartridge. I did enjoy that and found it quite enlightening.

Good for you.

Thank you. Hey, if you want to go there and you liked it before, more
power to
you.

All I was doing was giving my impressions.
You gave yours. In the end, they're worth what we each paid for them.

I guess but I was paid, I didn't pay.

all
be
it on horse back.

The only bargains I found were on high
end film camaras and silk products.

Used to be great values on home electronics and many products

from
Europe.

Used to be.

I did find a lot of scam operations though.

Like New York City.

I haven't done much shopping in NYC

Now if I were asked to go back there again for work I would,

but
I
would
not
consider a trip there on my own dime. I will say this for Hong

Kong
though, it
was the only place I could make listening comparisons between

a
Rockport
Sirius
III, a Clear Audio Master Reference and a Forsell Air

Reference
all
with
the
same cartridge. I did enjoy that and found it quite

enlightening.

Good for you.

Thank you. Hey, if you want to go there and you liked it before,

more
power to
you.

All I was doing was giving my impressions.
You gave yours. In the end, they're worth what we each paid for

them.

I guess but I was paid, I didn't pay.

I was talking about the opinions. Sheesh!

A, yeah, I know. You paid to go there when you formed your opinions and

I
was
paid to go there when I formed my opinions. Did you not realize that?

Yes, but the small joke I was making is neither of us paid each other for
our respective opinions.

OK but the joke only works if the idea is clearly communicated. It wasn't.

Maybe we should switch to something easier, like ABX. :-)

Curious. So the word is somebody in our State Dept. is threatening to
revoke Holland's MFN status if you don't tighten up your immoral "drug
laws"? I have to say, that's hard to believe.

When Bush sneezes, bell-boy Balkenende is coming to the rescue with a
hanky. It even says "With Compliments Of The Dutch People".

What does MFN stand for? "Means ****in' Nothing?" That figures :-)

Or one Fosters.

I thought Fosters was Australian for 'beer'.

I remember a time when Merv Hughes used to menacingly charge in with all his
whiskers bristling, and then promptly sent to the boundry for a six by
Tendulkar. The letters on shirt spelt (since we're on the topic): XXXX.

At least they are not Wales.

Any suggestions? I had planned on renting a car and driving around rather

A very small diesel car. . .

Actually, I wanted to mention France too, but I figured I would have drawn
fire from the likes of McKelvy!

Damn, now. You don't *keep* it. You put it up for adoption as soon as

**Silly me. Great idea. I'll talk to the boss when she gets back from
Townsville. I don't think she'll go for it, though. Last time we had the
discussion, it went kinda like this: "If you want a kid, then YOU get
pregnant, or go adopt one. I don't want one of those things around the
house."

I was wondering about that too, actually. Fosters is toilet-bowl
water, and not popular in Oz.

**There are some nice Aussie beers, but many probably don't get exported.
Rech's Pilsner (silver bullets) is a favourite of mine. West End (draught)
is a beaut. Carlton Draught Then there's a bunch of boutique beers, which
are really quite good. Much as I hate to admit it, I rather like Miller
Draft (American beer). It's actually quite good. Of course, the Germans
still do it best.

Incidentally, does that $3K cash-for-babes incentive apply to
Aborigines?

**Every Australian citizen, I would think.

When I was born the government had a monthly payment to mothers for having
kids. As a 10 year old, I figured mum was incredibly wealthy (dad figured
that it was her money, not family money) with the 10 quid a month rolling
in. Prob'ly cost her more in shoes and Band-aids each month.

Hi.

Thanks.

Your post isn't about audio, either. Neither are the e-mails
you've been sending to everyone. If you want to talk about audio
equipment, go ahead.

Schmuck.

The RAO lady of charm has spoken...

Oh, is she another of your sockpuppets?

As paranoid as you are Phillips, you must really be afraid of me.
Why, I can't imagine. I have no interest in you being harmed in any
way. Indeed Phillips, I hope for the best for you. This includes my
sincere hope that you acquire your first brain.

Why in the world would you think that I'd be afraid of you?

Your agressive behavior tells your sad story, Phillips.

Try to come up with something that makes sense, if you can.

Been there, done that.

Not this time.

Umm........not any more.
Our government is getting more and more PC.
They're shutting down coffeeshops and waging war to those who buy or
carry the tiniest bit of grass.

In a few years, smoking a joint on the street will result in the death
penalty.

But you still got the Van Goghs, though...right? ;-)

I'm still amazed at the tough marijuana laws in Nevada. You can gamble away
your kids' college fund all evening, drink free booze 24/7 in the casinos, and
bang hookers all night, and it's all legal. Get caught with a joint, and
you'll do prison time.

That's exactly what I would have thought as well. The places that do
intrigue me in Spain are Barcelona, Bilbao and Seville.

I'm really curious about Portugal. You never hear anything about it (at least
here in the US). It looks like heaven geographically, and the history of the
place is unbelievably rich. Yet I don't know anyone who's ever been there.
