i've been doing online graphic design and flash design for 6 years now
in san francisco. all the while and way before that i've been into sound. i'm a musician, songwriter, have a project studio in my home, and have recorded an album. just recently i finished a comercial original song for philups that was on thier website. this wasn't the first time i've been payed to do sound. over my years working online i have done a few smaller sound projects as well. my question is where can i look to find full time employment for this? where do i get started? what do i need on my resume? who employs people for this? what software would i need to know? much thanks. |

Some opportunities in the computer games industry. I worked for a
computer games company for 8 months . . . I designed and built the recording studio, did all background music (on CD, for PC games) and sound FX. Was a great industry to be in . . . fun, and they've got lots of money. The magazine to look in in the UK is "EDGE" magazine (not sure if that applies to the US.) . . . some games companies advertise directly for music/sound-FX, and/or contact the agencies. Or some games companies might like to commission music on a freelance basis. Chris (REAL strings for realistic prices http://www.chris-melchior.com/strings.htm) |
