Default What Is A Distressor's "BRITISH MODE"?

Can't seem to find much info about this option, even on Empirical's
website.

What is the "British Mode" on a Distressor?

Is it defeatable?

Thanks in advance...

On 1176s, there are 4 ratio buttons. Someone somewhere figured out if you
press all 4 at once, you get a wildly aggressive, unpredictable ratio
setting. The Distressor "British Mode" emulates it. It's defeatable. It's
also alot of fun.

On the 1176, someone in the UK figured out that if you push all the
ratio buttons in at the same time, you get a very high ratio and turn
the thing almost into a limiter. When the technique arrived back on
these shores, everyone called it "British mode." I am not sure when
this was discovered... I know I didn't see it until the early eighties
myself.

The Distressor is available with an option that lets you emulate the
sound of this effect.

Is it defeatable?

Yes.

I think it was discvored in the 70's. I read somewhere that "When the levea
Breaks" it is used on the drum room mics.
