Default B&K 4185 alternative

I'm building a portable cellphone field recording rig. It will be built
around the B&K 4602B artificial mouth/ear and a Marantz PD670 recorder
in a pelican case. I'm trying to find a less expensive and less fragile
mic to replace the 4185. It does not have to be an exact replacement
I'm looking for something pro audio not Laboratory quality that can
stand more of a field enviornment.

Any Ideas
Thanks
Kevin

You can get IEC Type II mikes that are cheaper from:

1. Aco
2. Larson-Davis
3. Josephson
4. Norsonics
5. BSWA

I would suggest talking to Josephson, which makes both an inexpensive
Type II measurement mike, and which resells the Microtech Gefell Type I
microphones. Even the most expensive of the M-G types will be cheaper
than the equivalent B&K and the performance will be the same.

Consider a DPA 4060 miniature mic. Very, very small. Very flat response.
Relatively inexpensive. Great sound quality.
