Default Anyone tried Sennheiser RS 120 Wireless headphones?

Want to get tracking headphones for bands. Are there problems with wireless
headphones cutting out or not respondiing or anything?

regards,

Martin

Martin,
I have the pricey Senn. wireless phones, don't remember the model number
though. They are basically a 900 mHz radio and receiver, just like a cordless
phone. (And they will kill your phone signal, as I found out!) My problem
with them is a particular "feature" they build in to reduce noise. It's an
audio compression circuit. Not compansion; compression only. So when the
sound gets louder, the headphones actually duck the volume and it gets
quieter! This is extremely annoying to me, but others in the studio are not
bothered by it.

You may also have a direct relationship between headphone volume and battery
life - and the ones I have are "open" so there's not much isolation. I guess I
would not recommend these for band members. They are very light, so not very
sturdy as well.

There are other phones without this compression circuit, including other Senn.
models. The tradeoff is increased noise and decreased range. I am reminded of
the remark about wireless microphones: "When a wireless mic functions perfectly
it behaves like a wired mic."

The phones I have are the HDR 85's. That compression feature is called
"HiDynPlus."

Another thing about them is the dainty velvet fabric on the ear cushions wouldn't
give me confidence that they could withstand a lot of sweat and/or makeup. This is
a produck that's designed for the home. Other models and makes may be a different
story.

Yours,
Dan
