Hi all,
I've noticed a slight problem on the first fader of my new Crest XR20. When
you move the fader past the "30" marking, I feel a slight resistance and a
"clicky" kind of feel and noise. It doesn't seem to affect the audio at
all. Anyone ever come across this ? I've emailed Crest about it, no
response yet.

It probably will, eventually, and the fader will need to be replaced.
If you don't get a response from your e-mail fairly soon, call them.
If the mixer is farily new and you didn't pour beer into it, they'll
probably send you a replacement fader.

However, until the spam goes away or Hell freezes over,

Are they easy to replace ? When I look at taking the back off of the mixer,
it looks like I have to unscrew all of the TSR nuts, but as long as the TSR
sockets themselves remain in place then I guess thats do-able. Anybody done
this before ? Electronics is part of my job so I'm not too afraid of taking
it apart.... honest !

If you do take it apart take some pictures for the rest of us Crest owners.
I'd like to host a page with how-to directions but I haven't needed to open
mine up yet.

Yes. These things aren't anywhere near as easy to work on as a fully-modular
console, but compared with a Mackie they are an absolute joy. Everything
inside is easy to get to and it's clearly intended to be repaired.

Yes, you do have to pop off all the retaining rings from the 1/4" jacks as
I recall.

I don't know, but somebody's got to do it. It's quite possible that
you'll have to take a lot of stuff off in order to get to the insides.
If you're comfortable with that (and have plenty of room to work -
don't try it if you have a table only as large as the mixer to work
on) go for it. But inquire about a warranty repair and a warranty
repair station near you. It might be as simple as dropping it off at
the corner music store, but you'll be without it for longer than if
you did the repair yourself.
