![]() Many folks who record in digital daisychains at concerts (passing a digital audio feed along from person to person) have asked us about using our PDAudio Card to create a very small, low-cost, high-res digital audio recorder. (When you daisychain, you don't need a microphone pre-amp or A-to-D converter, so why pay for them?) Get a PDA (e.g., HP iPAQ h3800, h5100-, h5500- or h2200-series), a Core Sound PDAudio-CF S/PDIF card (provides both optical and coaxial S/PDIF inputs), recording software (e.g., Live2496 from Gidluck Mastering) and a memory card. Here's a sample recorder system: an HP h2215 iPAQ (under $250 on eBay), Core Sound PDAudio-CF card ($199) and Gidluck Mastering's Live2496 recording software($50) For storage you could use a 1 GB SanDisk SD memory card (around $75 at Buy.com). This is the only 24/96-capable digital audio recorder that can be slipped into your shirt pocket. -- Len Moskowitz PDAudio, Binaural Mics, Cables, DPA, M-Audio Core Sound http://www.stealthmicrophones.com Teaneck, New Jersey USA http://www.core-sound.com Tel: 201-801-0812, FAX: 201-801-0912 |
