studer 169 mic pre's vs neve, api, hardy etc
how do the mic pre's in these mixers stack up to the above in tonal
character? do they have input transformers? i read on old posts here that they are used for classical recordings. would they be too clinical for jazz recordings |

The M-1 is not a mixer, it is a stand-alone rack-mounted mic preamp with 1 to 4 channels. It uses the best of the Jensen input transformers (JT-16-B) and has the best of the Jensen output transformers available as an option (JT-11-BMQ). They aren't in the Hardy/Great River/Millennia league but they were basically an attempt at doing the same thing thirty years back. do they have input transformers?
