Default Any opinions on Scorpion II VS. Bullet??

Hi there!

I'm thinking about buying a TAC mixer! I can choose between a Scorpion
II and a TAC Bullet for almost the same price...
Any opinions what to go for? Isn't the sound quality practical the
same in Scorpion, Scorpion II, Bullet and Matchless?? I mean, they are
all TAC boards!?

GREAT FORUM!!!!

Thanks,
Peter

I looked at the Scorpion when it
was new and found that it was a little quieter than the Soundcraft 600
which was about the same price (and which I eventually bought) but a
lot of the outputs were unbalanced. Since the primary application was
for remote recording, I decided that a little noise in the mic preamps
was preferable to EMI problems when going between the console and
recorder.

Not to mention the fact that your Soundcraft 600 still works & the Scorpion
would have hit the ****can years ago.

I don't like the Scorpions at all. But the micpres on the Bullets are
very nice fat sounding pres used direct out. Not terribly fond of the meters,
but between the two I'd take a Bullet.

I always agree with Will on everything. Yeah, don't bother with the Scorpion,
they were pretty unreliable, mediocre desks. The Bullet will be just fine.

Buy the one whose faders are in better shape.
