Hi Bob, Would you be able to take some time to help me with a few questions? Maybe you could clarify something that has me puzzled about the Fender Stage Lead I have been working on. I have posted a schematic to alt.binaries.schematics.electronic. (Stage Lead amplifier Fender). The print calls for: Q 9,11 as 29D Q 8,12 as 30D The installed components were Q 9,11 TIP29C (TI) Q 8,12 RCA1C04 It appears to be stock unaltered from the factory, doesn't appear to have been repaired at any time. I am curious why they didn't use the "D" rated TIP29 as called for in the schematic. Should I replace the TIP29 and TIP30's with the TIP41 series, as I cannot seem to find TIP29's or TIP30's in the "D" rating, and I have ordered the TIP41's as per your cross reference info, thanks, I would greatly appreciate any advice, Regards, Vin Collins hi Vin the letter suffix on the TIP series transistors, denote the voltage rating "C" = 100V and "D" = 120V. the "D" rated ones are specified in the original drawing as you say. the RCA parts if my memory is correct were rated 100V. therefore i recomend you use the "D"s if you can source them. but in my experience the "C" rated devices will be fine in your application. one further point is to get "branded parts from a reputable manufacturer regards bob |
