I own a NAD C340 amplifier which packed up about a week after the
guarantee expired. There are two problems. The amplifier has 7 source inputs. However, whichever source is selected it only plays music coming from the CD inputs. Meaning it effectively has only one source. The right channel is the other problem, it sounds as if it is silent, but with headphones on I can hear a very faint sound. And the balance knob is not turned to the left. I can get it repaired in a local shop, but, this being France they want me to cross their palms with 50 eur (55 dollars) before they will even look at it. Do I bin it? Your advice much appreciated, as always, Matt |

Your advice much appreciated, as always, Matt Depends on your abilities at tinkering with electronic circuits. An Internet search for the NAD camp indicates (I think) that this amp uses a set of relays to select the inputs. It looks like this system has stopped working and may have left the selector partially set with the right channel not connected. It may be possible to open the case, find the relays, and replace/repair what is wrong. Perhaps someone in this group owns or has repaired this amp and will have better information. |

Matt,
If the amp failed only a week after the warranty, then I would send a friendly letter to the NAD distributor in France, along with a copy of your purchase receipt, they might agree to cover it under warranty, I've certainly had them do it here in the US. Regards, Tim Schwartz Bristol Electronics Matt wrote: I own a NAD C340 amplifier which packed up about a week after the guarantee expired. There are two problems. The amplifier has 7 source inputs. In the UK, the sale of goods act demands that an item must be of
merchantable quality and this includes that it must be "reasonably durable". If this happened to me in the UK and I didn't get anywhere by asking nicely, I would be tempted to take them to court (such cases are regularly won over here) "Tim Schwartz" wrote in message ...
