Folks,
Does anyone know a way to broadcast music files from one PC on a home network to other PCs on the same network? I know I can run a player program on each computer to access the same file, but that's not the same as having them all play in sync from one source. Am I missing something obvious, or do I have to set up a web-type server of some sort? --Ethan |

The last I used this, which was several years ago, low-bit rate encoding from Windows Media sounded completely dreadful. There have been updates that some claim are much better and there's nothing to prevent you from running it at much higher rates. |

Media Encoder supports pretty much any bit-rate you desire now and can
stream to up to 50 clients with a simple registry hack. It's perfect for doing exactly what Ethan wants to do ( then again, so is Shoutcast server ;-) ). "Dick Pierce" wrote in message om... Guys,
WinAmp's Shoutcast ... Windows Media Encoder Thanks! I'll check out both of those. The music files are in both Wave and MP3 format, so I'd rather not decode/re-encode the MP3 stuff if possible. Thanks again for the leads. --Ethan |
