Default Home studio Hw/Sw question, long

Hello all,

First thanx for reading my post. I am somewhat new to the group. I
have read many posts and learned a lot from my reading. Here is my
question.

Background
I am a drummer and I recently built a home studio/rehearsal room.
While It is a relatively small room, 10 x 15, I tried to build it as
best I could by hanging two layers of drywall on an RC channel, using
a lot of caulk and treating the room with auralex foam. I now want to
begin recording, I currently have:

Drum mics including.
D112
Audix mic kit (2 D2, 1 D3, and D4 ?)
Behringer mixer (only has 8 XLR inputs, but has a total of 26 inputs)
I went cheap.
Mackie 1400I AMP
EV speakers (for rehearsal)
IBM PC compatible
PII 350 Mhz, 256Mb of RAM. (I need a larger HD)
The internal model of the Extigy sound card (I don’t remember
the name)

Need Overhead mics
Need High mics
Studio monitor

I recently aquired a G3 Power PC, 300 Mhz, it is missing the 64Mb of
RAM but has the OS, Zip drive and 8 Gig HD. I realize I need more
spec.

Now for the questions:
1) What mixer should I buy? Soundcraft FX16? Please note when I
practice by myself or with a band I want to hear my self through
headphones and record the whole session. (I realize I will get some
bleed through)
2) What recording interface Sw/Hw should I get? I would like 16
inputs (from the Soundcraft FX16)
3) Should I use the G3 or should I stick with the PC and obviously
upgrade the processor?

Please offer any other suggestions which I may have overlooked.

Thanks,
JJ

Did any of the posts you read come any where close to your predicament?

Cool so was I (for 25 years). I was mostly a rocker, what kind of music do you
play?

10X15 is an OK size for starting. Did you throw some tones into the finished
room (and measure them on a spec.) before you put up the foam?
