Default acoustic actuators?

i remember reading something about a device which could be affixed to
wooden furniture which acted to send subsonic vibrations through the
furniture. i think it was called an acoustic actuator, but searching
for such on google's giving me nothing.

anyone have information on a) what its called or b) experiences with?
