Hello!
I'm looking for recommendations for (economically priced) sound card with 192 kHz sample rate that is flat up to 80 kHz. It should preferably be external (USB). Any suggestions? Anyone using one that can be recommended? Thanks! Regards, Goran Tomas |

Anyone using one that can be recommended? It's PCI, but the M-Audio AP 24192 qualifies. Also, check out eMu. They have reasonably-priced high performance audio interfaces. |

Anyone using one that can be recommended? Why...... are you making music for your dog. No seriously, what are you going to use it for since 192 KHz is a must. |

Because there are apparently lots of cards that have 192 kHz sample rate but are designed for audio and the built-in filtering starts rolling of at 20k... Regards, Goran Tomas |

you going to use it for since 192 KHz is a must. A large bandwidth is useful for some non-strictly audio applications like FM stereo/RDS encoders like Stereo Tool (freeware except for a few functions!) or other signal processors. Gianluca |

I have the Emu 1212m... decent card, but HF roll off below 20Khz. If you really want that kind of bandwidth, and you actually want it to be accurate and repeatable, you're going to have to pony up for the National Instruments hardware, or something like it that is designed for instrumentation. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. I want to see the spectrum of a 80k signal, but I don't need it to be
measurement quality... If you want to see harmonics of a 80kHz signal you need a bandwidth much, much over 192kHz. The 2nd harmonic is 160kHz, the third is 240kHz... If you need to see what is located under the 80kHz signal it is a bit different. Gianluca |

Do you know if these actually go up to 80k? Yes, although its not uncommon for there to be a bit of a roll-off, say -3 dB in the last octave. Because there are apparently lots of cards that have 192 kHz sample rate but are designed for audio and the built-in filtering starts rolling of at 20k... There are a lot of audio interfaces that report to the system that they handle up to 192 KHz. However, they just downsample and upsample, probably in software. However, the spec sheets for these products typically tell the true story about response up to 22 Khz or so. |

By who? Who recommended the Emu 1212m to you? I have the Emu 1212m... decent card, but HF roll off below 20Khz. This seems to be true, based on these results. http://www.csie.ntu.edu.tw/~r89004/rmaa52/ I notice that these have been posted since 5/2004 and came up almost instantly in google searching. Did you do your homework and buy the product anyway? |
