Hi ,
I recently bought professional audio system and iam listening to music using my pc. Iam not satisfied with the fidelity of sound. I currently using on board sound card. Will it help me to get high fidelity of sound if i upgrade my sound card or buy cd player? I checked in net SNR is very high for creative sound card compared to normal cd player. Can u suggest me which cound be a better buy also explain abt snr? |

oups.com I recently bought professional audio system and iam listening to music using my pc. How about sharing some more detailed specs of that professional audio system. I am not satisfied with the fidelity of sound. I currently using on board sound card. I know of no onboard sound cards that perform as well as even a fairly cheap tabletop (not portable or PC) CD player. Will it help me to get high fidelity of sound if i upgrade my sound card or buy cd player? Could be. I checked in net SNR is very high for creative sound card compared to normal cd player. In either case, actual performance is typically limited by the equipment and studio used to produce the CD. Can u suggest me which cound be a better buy If you want to best the performance of even a pretty cheap CD player, you need to spend a little money on that new sound card. I'm thinking about something like an M-Audio Audiophile 24192. also explain abt snr? It is not the be-all or end-all of sound quality. Smooth frequency response in the audio range and low nonlinear distortion (THD and IM) are also important. |

What happened to 16/44.1 being perfect and digital is digital is digital and any 16bit DAC is perfect!!!!? Sorry Arny but I am quite shaken about this. What next are you going to tell this guy to trade his 'puter in and buy a gramophone instead? Cheers TT |

Sorry, I shall rephrase that to "CD quality is all that anyone needs and is indistinguishable from analogue or higher sample rates in ABX testing" Isn't that what you say? Cheers TT |

Nope, more like: "CD quality is all that anyone needs in a distribution format. It has thus far been found to be indistinguishable from analogue or higher sample rates in any valid kind of lisetning tests" |

How about sharing some more detailed specs of that professional audio
system. http://www.sonodyne.com/Genie-Powerpack.htm This is my system. Will i be able to make difference between my onboard vs creative audigy 2? I am not satisfied with the fidelity of sound.
